EVEREST SOJOURN - Fall 2022

We invite you to join us on a journey to Nepal for an in-depth exploration of MT. EVEREST NATIONAL PARK.  The itinerary was carefully designed to allow us to acclimatize safely as we traverse the highest national park in the world and explore the Sherpa culture beneath the slopes of Mt. Everest.
After a day of sight-seeing in Kathmandu a short, scenic 45-minute flight takes us from the capitol city to the mountain village of Lukla (9200’) where we begin this classic trek.  That afternoon we descend to the village of Phakding and spend the first night on the trail at 8500’, the lowest altitude of the trip!  Each day afterward, sees us climbing higher into the Park, revealing increasingly spectacular vistas as we approach the “Mother Goddess”!
On our journey we will walk the three main valleys that comprise the park, hike up both Kala Pattar (18,298’) and Gokyo Ri (17,688’) to gain unobstructed views of Everest, Cho Oyu and many other Himalayan giants.  Then we leave the Gokyo Lakes behind and cross the beautiful pass, Renjo La (17,572’).  As we complete our exploration of Sagarmatha National Park and head downhill to Lukla we will take a new trail (not on most maps) and traverse the Kongde Ri massif high above the Bhote Kosi (river) for the last spectacular views of Namche Bazaar and the great peaks that surround it.  Then it is a short flight back to Kathmandu for another day of sight-seeing and shopping before departing beautiful Nepal.
Each year increasing numbers of people visit Everest National Park.  This custom adventure was carefully planned to allow you to see the whole park while taking the “path less travelled” avoiding crowded teahouses and trails wherever possible.  We will be tent camping on this trek and completely self-supported with a full kitchen crew, Sherpa staff and porters who you will have ample opportunity to become acquainted with.
