WHY TRAVEL WITH MOUNTAIN ODYSSEY?Mountaineering is our passion. We love what we do!
Personalized Service. When you choose Mountain Odyssey you are dealing with the owner and guide, from the first contact through the end of your trip. Dave McNally will be available to answer all of your questions and help you prepare for your adventure. Mountain Odyssey’s Nepalese staff is one of the best and they are more a family than employees. They will be at your service. Health and Safety. Your health and safety are our paramount concern. All itineraries are designed to allow for your proper acclimatization. Our staff is fully trained in western standards of hygiene and they are genuinely concerned with your welfare. Dave has a background as a Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. Small, Intimate Groups. We prefer to keep our groups small (approximately 6-10 members). This is the best and most intimate way to experience the culture we are exploring. With a small group it is possible to stop and visit the home of Sherpa friends or ask the lama of a monastery to perform a puja ceremony (blessing) for the group. In this atmosphere, it is quite common for long-term friendships to develop among team members. High Value. We offer first-class service at very competitive prices. Tent Camping. There are two ways to trek in Nepal: tent camping or staying in teahouses. We have always favored tent camping for a number of reasons. The most important being that we have more control over the kitchen environment including hygiene standards and when meals and drinks are served. Our kitchen crew is there for you alone. The other important reason is freedom. When teahouse trekking you simply have to go where the teahouses are. With tents we are free to leave the beaten path. Staff. Dave and our sirdar (head Sherpa) Phurba personally hire the Sherpa staff and kitchen crew, insuring that they are honest, friendly and clean. Many of them have worked with us for years. They work very hard and we compensate them fairly and give them the respect they deserve. We couldn’t see Nepal without them! Private trips. We offer customized, private trips for groups of six or more. Call us with your ideas and we’ll do the rest. |
" To reach the summit, one must proceed from encampment to encampment. But before setting out for the next refuge, one must prepare those coming after to occupy the place one is leaving. Only after having prepared them can one go on up. That is why, before setting out for a new refuge, we had to go back down in order to pass on our knowledge to other seekers…”
